Holliston MA. Site Pt. 1

Holliston MA. Site Pt. 1

This is close to the site from my previous recent post from Holliston.  At this site, the first stone feature I came across was this cairn.  View A-

What looks like a fallen Standing Stone at the foot of a boulder (base to the left, tip to the right).  I was able to slightly shake this with one hand to make sure the dimesnsions were in fact that of a Standing Stone.  One to two people could move this stone easily.  To me, this doesn't look knocked over.  It looks dismantled from some other spot and moved here, as if to hide it from plain sight:

Richard Thornton Articles from The Examiner

Richard Thornton Articles from The Examiner

Richard Thornton is an architect/ city-planner of Muscogee-Creek descent.  He is also a researcher into the SouthEast's pre-colonial past, researching sites such as Georgia's Track Rock Gap and other sites.  He is a founding member of the organization People Of One Fire (POOF).

Below is a link to an article Thornton wrote concerning the SouthEast's Apalache Kingdom (the source of where the Appalachian Mountains gets it's name).

The name of the article is "Apalache, the Lost Kingdom of NorthEast Georgia".  This is one of the citites of gold that the early Spanish explorers were looking for in the SouthEast, that with time had been written off by scholars as a mere legend or fable.  Now, thanks to the research of Thornton and others, we now know that these "lost cities of gold" really existed (although it hasn't been embraced by mainstream scholars yet... obviously there are huge "cover-ups" at play here, even if individual scholars don't see it as such- they can't see the forest from the trees).  Here is the link-

"Apalache, the Lost Kingdom of NorthEast Georgia":

"The Appaclachian Cities of Gold; They Really Existed":

"Lost American Civilizations Flew Right Over The Radar" (talks about terraced complexes, similar in design elements to Meso-American sites, rounded stone balls found in Meso-America and in some cases the American SouthEast, and so much more):

"An Enormous Archaeological Site In North America Like Non-Other":

"Did Maya Immigrants Once Live In the Mountains of North Carolina & Tennessee?" (looks at cultural influences such as place names, linguistics, building style, etc.):

"Indian Mounds W/ 5-Sides; Why did They Have That Unusual Shape?":

And, the last link I will provide Richard Thornton writes about some of the stone-works found in the NorthEast, such as the chambers and complexes at Gungywmp in Groton CT. (which I recently covered on this blog in May); and he goes on to say that when the Atlantic was more shallow, that the original pre-Bronze Age megalithic builders of Europe may have been bronze-skinned American Indian people.  This clicks with the Maritime Archaic, aka Red Paint People cultures from the American NorthEast which go back to deep antiquity, pretty much to the ending of the last Ice Age.  He mentions the dark Irish, as well as ethnically-bronze skinned black-haired people living in early Ireland who set sail for the Atlantic one day never to return.  (and for those that don't know, the megalithic chambers found on both sides of the NorthEast Atlantic are very structurally similar.)  Could there be a cultural connection, Thornton explores these concepts and more in this last article titled-

"The Same People May Have Once Lived On Both Sides of the Atlantic":

Below is a before/ after pic of an "Apalache Kingdom" terrace, from pre-colonial times compared to what it looks like today.  It looks very much like stone wall sites in the woods I research here in the NorthEast, which are featured in this blog-

Another stone-wall running through a site in Georgia, again, identical to the kinds of sites I am looking at in the NorthEast.  What early explorers were looking for in the NorthEast such as Norumbega, such as Champlain and earlier explorers, is like these lost cities of gold the Spanish were looking for in the Appalachian Mountains of the SouthEast, although these cultures probably evolved independantly from each other there could be some obvious influence as well-

Site In the Holliston, MA. Woods- Effigies, Cairns, Ledges, Stone Row & More

Site In the Holliston, MA. Woods- Effigies, Cairns, Ledges, Stone Row & More

Here is a site from the Holliston, MA. woods near the middle part of town.  The site is next to a swamp on slightly elevated ground from the wetland.

Where to begin on this one.... how about with this propped boulder placement, which is actually a worked-out stone statue/ effigy.  It resembles a similar profile rock I saw from a few posts back that was on a ledge in Bellingham, MA.  It is also similar to a feature from an upcoming site from the same area I will be posting about soon.

View A of the propped boulder placement/ stone statue.  Note the head profile and the body.  Sort of "Sphinx"-like (anthropamorphized) with an upwards gaze.  This was located at the end of a stone row and I had to clear away some brush to see this feature:

View B- looking down at the statue, showing off how the back of the body has been worked-out:

View C, similar to A:

A cairn/ stone feature located around a ledge:

Stone row at an upward incline.  Note the Standing Stone to the left of the row, with a possible worn-out turtle inscription from what I can see:

More of the stone row at an upward incline:

The stone row at a downward incline, going into a swamp where this section of the wall terminates.  What is that glittering stone at the end of the row?.......

.....It just so happens to be a Turtle Effigy Stone.  A perfect carving of a turtle.  Obviously this turtle is a great power in this area.  Note that this stone is different from the other rocks in this stone row- in fact, it looks like the same white-like stone material that some of the Stone Faces from Milford, MA. were made from featured in recent posts:

Unusually-shaped boulder #1, looking like a placement for something:

Propped boulder, possible effigy view A.  This looks like another Turtle Effigy placed at the edge of the swamp.  This one looks like it could have been a place to make an offering, compared to the smaller turtle idol at the end of the stone row:

View B, showing off the "abstract" face profile.  This looks like very turtle-like:

A ledge-stone, which appears to be either placed at this site or at least modified.  I strongly feel that this ledge-stone is the point of some observation and must have been used as a platform:

Santos Bonacci- Reclaiming Dominion

Santos Bonacci- Reclaiming Dominion

Santos Bonacci is an Australian- based researcher of astro-theology and syncretism, as well as a musician.  His YouTube channel is "Mr. Astrotheology".

In this lecture titled "Reclaiming Dominion" Santos touches on subjects such as law, science, religion, astrology and astronomy/ solar events and puts a big part of the larger picture of life on this planet onto the table.

"Reclaiming Dominion" is actually not as off-topic from the subject of pre-colonial stoneworks as one might think.  Santos explains Vatican law and it is especially great to hear him explaining about the planetary orbits through-out the universe.

Ancient man was an astronomer, more so than most people are today.  When looking at sites such as large rows of boulders on ledges, that line up with other boulder arrangments for miles around, one cannot help but think they are walking through the maze of an ancient solar planetarium- no matter where one is on this Earth, the ancient cultures seemed to be bringing the heavens down to the Earth- "as above, so below" so that man was the intermediary/ observer/ etc. of these forces.  I have alot of posts up about propped boulder/ boulder alignment sites such as my recent trip to Lynn, MA. from a few posts back.

Santos Bonacci's lecture "Reclaiming Dominion" is in 2 parts.  Here is part 1, about 2 hrs.-

Part 2, about 1 hr.-

Parts 1 & 2 together, about 3 hrs.-

I also have another Santos Bonacci link on this blog, where he interviewed Aborginal activist/ lore man Jaga Jaga (Brendon Murray).  The link is here-

Some charts relating to Santos' lecture (and to stoneworks- this is what is meant by "syncrenicity")-

Stone Row W/ Standing Stones Next To Ledge/ Underground Room

Stone Row W/ Standing Stones Next To Ledge/ Underground Room

I had covered this site on this blog last September (2014) here- http://www.nativenewenglandstones.blogspot.com/2014/09/serpent-wall-underground-room.html .  I had shown this site to one of the MA. NEARA co-ordinators, Walter Van Rogen who plugged in the co-ordinates of this site into NEARA's data records.  Other than that, due to the fact that this is an underground room with what I consider to be sensitive features I am not dis-closing its location on this blog.

I wanted to cover the ledge and underground room again, as well as the "tail end" of the stone wall leading away from the ledge.  To see the beginning of the wall leading into the ledge/ underground room you will have to follow the link provided above.  I noticed that some of the stones in the stone wall at the tail end of the row were Standing Stones that had been knocked over.  To get a better look at these stones they were carefully propped back up for the sake of record-keeping.  They were propped back up following the trail they had fallen over, so they are shown more or less in their original positions, give or take.

Let's first take another look at the Underground Room/ Ledge again:

Narrow path-way through the ledge.  With-out the last few centuries of soil/ tree build-up the entire ledge would be more spectacular:

Here is the wall directly outside the Underground Room, leading away from the ledge.  I had a strong feeling that the triangular-shaped stone in the fore-ground was some kind of focal point, and now that I realize there are more Standing Stones here I know I was right:

Two of the stones that had been knocked over:

This notched-out stone is clearly a "head-and shoulders" Manitou-stone, also referred to by researchers as a god-stone.  This stone shape is found through-out North America, even through-out the ancient world in various cultures, even as far away as Taiwan (as Mavor and Dix point out on pg. 333 of "Manitou").  The shape obviously is very symbolic:

This is a more obelisk-like Standing Stone, with a well-defined base and a well-defined tip with a side-ways notch by the tip:

Panning out to show off the stone wall running along the ledge, away from the underground room:

More Standing Stones in the stone row:

This Standing Stone also has a side-ways notch in it by the base of the tip:

A smaller Standing Stone:

Fungi (natural medicine) growing on a nearby birch-tree in a swamp:

The row of Standing Stones is sort of similar to the row of Standing Stones found at the more popular Gungywamp site in Groton, CT.  I will say that the site featured in this post is in Massachusetts.  When viewed as a whole, the Standing Stones from the site covered in this post have a crescent-shaped curve just like the row of Standing Stones found at Gungywamp.  This is perhaps a significant feature at "ceremonial" sites.  Researchers Mary and James Gage go into the symbolism of the crescent-shape at their website here- http://www.stonestructures.org/html/symbolism.html#Shapes

Just goes to show, one site can have a huge depth of research.  And these are just from my observations alone.
